Why visit in autumn? Cyprus benefits from a long, hot autumn, with temperatures remaining well in the 30s. Cypriot villages are some of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, with villas often situated in remote rural areas that are perfect for exploring on cooler days throughout October. There is nothing better than a dip in the sea, which is still wonderfully warm at this time of year, after a serene day in the Cypriot countryside. In fact, the bathing season in Cyprus is one of the longest in the Mediterranean Sea and often swimming is possible until end of November. For nature lovers – why not take a hike? Flowers like poinsettia and buttercup prosper in Cyprus in autumn, making for spectacular views.
Where to stay? The Andreas & Melani Beach Hotel is situated near a sandy beach and crystal blue waters that are safe for family swimming. In the past, a well-known Governor of Cyprus used to swim regularly on this piece of coastline, so it came to be called Governors Beach. From €30 per night, including breakfast.

Why visit in autumn? Still sunny but not sizzling, autumn is the perfect time to visit Turkey (the summer months are uncomfortably hot at times). A slight breeze can be felt in the air If it's water sports you're after, the Turks believe say that the best time to dive is after the first autumn rain (usually between late September and early October), when you can see the most fish activity.
Where to stay? Autumn is the perfect time to explore Istanbul. Known as the ‘velvet’ season, the city becomes its most beautiful – so beautiful that even the Turks themselves travel here to experience its luxurious atmosphere and golden colour. It is also sale season – so grab a bargain while you’re in town. We recommend staying in Sapphire hotel, which is perfectly located for exploring the sights. Take advantage of a variety of recreational facilities within the hotel, including an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna.Or, if you'd like something a bit more upmarket, while prices are at a low, try one of our fantastic hotels in Turkey.

GREECE
Average maximum temperature: 28C
Why visit in autumn? Whichever Greek island you pick in autumn you're likely to find warm sunshine, few crowds and heaps of local hospitality. The season of autumn endures approximately three months, characterized by the romantic, natural beauty of the now dewy Greek landscape. During the middle of October, the second month of autumn, the first rains appear, possessing an unusual red and yellow shade that is a magical sight to behold.
Where to stay? Rhodes is particularly lovely at this time of year; its medieval Old Town comprises of narrow alleys, Ottoman mansions and (now) tranquil squares. September, the first month of autumn, is also the best time to visit Petaloudes (aka Butterfly Valley). Out of season, this exquisite green glade is tourist-free and loaded with brightly-coloured insects, including an array of moths and butterflies, hence its name. You can also catch some rays on the nearby beaches – Kalithea, famous for its hot medicinal springs is just a short bus ride away from the old town. We recommend Hotel Isole in the Old Town for an authentic Greek experience.
