Our opinion about Thessaloniki
Greece’s second city, Thessaloniki, or Thessalonica as it is sometimes known is a hive of activity. A university city, it’s got a young atmosphere with plenty of cafes, bars and cheap restaurants to eat out in. Visit the famous White Tower landmark right on the water front, or walk the length of the promenade on a hot summer’s day. Try the local favourite, a sweet cream pastry called a bougatsa or simply relax on some of the best beaches in Greece nearby. Book the cheapest holiday…

Very young city, Thessalonica has a big student population, but it's nice enoguh. However I wouldn't stay any longer than a couple of days. Be prepared to walk a lot to get around, the castle is on top of a hill. The promenade is quite nice to walk along though and the weather was nice. So so city break.
