The capital of the Algarve, Faro is known as the 'gateway to the Algarve', making it a great option for history fans, golfing greats or beach bums. I would head to other parts of the Algarve again, although the atmosphere is nice in Faro, there are other areas that are prettier in my opinion.
I go back every year to play a couple of rounds every week and have a few beers in the evening. There are a couple of nice courses and the flight is not too long.
