Close to that perennial favourite, Malaga, Roquetas de Mar is a holiday resort with its own charm. With sweeping golden sands that are usually quiet, water sports by the bucket load and of course, a couple of golf courses you won’t be short of things to do.

Away from the sand, we recommend a little pampering at a spa in one of the cheap hotels in Roquetas de Mar. Nothing screams holiday quite like a Turkish bath or endless massage. In the evening you can grab a couple of bargains in the local shops or head for a glass of wine in one of the waterfront cafes.
