Evora
Our opinion about Evora
A mix of corkscrew streets and pretty historic squares, Renaissance architecture and Moorish finishes, the 2,000 year old city of Evora is a wonderful place to really unwind. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s made for relaxing. The town centre is partially surrounded by historic Medieval Walls and there are plenty of sights nearby (and a little bit further afield) to impress any history buffs.
The Palace of Vasco da Gama is a must see, as is the unusual Gothic architecture. Its Cathedral and Roman Temple are also well worth a look. If you fancy a little photography fun, head for the food market or famers market, with the best in fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and of course with all that local produce you’d be crazy not to visit some of the great quality restaurants nearby.
