Our opinion about Canico

Picturesque and feeling like it is worlds away, Canico is actually only a few miles from the island’s capital Funchal. Offering the best of both worlds, it has excellent beaches and a scattering of restaurants and bars as well as the gorgeous Garajau Natural Marine Park. It’s a great place to relax and simply soak up the sunshine. Or you could try out a hiking holiday in one of the many trails that wind their way through the island.

In the evening, if you fancy something a bit more lively, Funchal is a great escape with a wealth of winding streets to explore, delicious restaurants to sample some fresh fish, or bustling bars and clubs that will keep you dancing until the small hours.
