Where to Stay

Psalidi

Psalidi is a small yet modern resort closr to Kos Town. It's location is perfect for those who really want to recharge their batteries on a quiet beach but want easy access to Kos Town for cultural sights.

Kos Town

This is both the tourist and cultural centre where many of the best hotels, restaurants and nightclubs are located. There's also an excellent beach located right in the centre of town.

Kardamena

This is a place for the younger corwds who come here each year for the large number of clubs and bars but it's not so overwhelming as other Greek resorts so you can still find Greek tavernas and restaurants for a quiet night out. The beach has a party atmosphere with upbeat bars and cafés that line the beach and watersports to try.

Things to do

Nature

Beaches are the main draw here. You've got party beaches, surfers beaches and the laze around kind of beaches on over 290 kilometres of coastline. The sandy beaches to the south of the island are some of the best in the Dodecanese. Be sure to don your mask and snorkel and check out the underwater environment. The clear waters, particularly around Magic Beach in Kefalos, make it perfect for spotting fish. Also heading inland will give you the chance to pass some pretty whitewashed mountain villages like Zia and take in the spectacular views.

Family Attractions

Kos Town is full of monuments and ruins where holidaymakers can learn about Kos' archealogical heritage. For something more exhilirating, head to Lido Water Park with its chutes and pools. The island is also a great place for sailing and watersports.

Nightlife

For a party atmosphere head to Kardamena with a lively nightlife. Towards the calmer end, resorts like Tingaki are popular for being more family-orientated.

Food & Drink

Farming is still a major occupation in Kos and you will be able to sample the local produce in the restaurants and tavernas. Redand white wines are also produced locally which you can also taste at the restaurants or at wineries across the island.

Shopping

In Kos Town there's a number of fruit and vegetable markets, perfect if you've chosen self-catering holidays in Kos. You'll also find local crafts in the Old Town and some fashion boutiques in the modern shopping area.

Weather

The island stays pretty warm all year round. The temperatures start to really warm up in May if you want to beat the summer rush. Temperatures reach highs of around 30C in July and August - perfect tanning weather we think.

Events

Hypocratia Festival

This is a festival which celebrates the life of Hippocrates. Taking place each year in August, featuring live music athletics contests and art exhibitions. This is perhaps the biggest event on Kos' event calendar.

Mastichari Wine Festival

Every year in early August, the little village of Mastichari holds an excellent wine festival. It's a little more rustic and laidback than your usual wine festival. You'll find only locally produced wines here and some Greek dancing thrown in for measure.

A lot of closures
It's a beautiful place, the Greek islands are great, but the economic downturn has had a big effect on things here, and there are plenty of closures around, still it's a nice spot, relaxing.
