The Diogenis Palace Hotel is situated directly on the seafront of the Crete resort of Gouves. The hotel has a warm, friendly atmosphere and is an ideal low cost option for couples and families looking for relaxing beach holiday in Greece. There are two sandy beaches directly outside the Lyda Beach Hotel as well as a large swimming pool and a children’s pool in the complex itself. Both beaches are ideal for families but the longer beach is more suitable for families with younger children. You will find a variety of water sports at the larger of the two beaches (with extra charge) and there is a regular service, especially during the summer months, of the tourist mini train that can take guests to the fantastic Cretan Aquarium in the nearby village of Gouves. Various restaurants, mini markets, bars, taverns and gift shops can be found around the Lyda Beach complex and it is just a ten minute stroll to the main street in Gouves centre. If you are looking for an active night life and extensive shopping there is regular bus service to the nearby bustling resorts of Hersonissos, Stalis and Malia. To compliment the Diogenis Palace Hotel’s swimming pool and children’s pool there are spacious sun terraces furnished with free sunbeds and parasols and there is also a pool side snack bar, a restaurant, a night bar and a beach bar for all your food and drink requirements. There is a large screen TV in the TV lounge and arcade games and a billiard table is available for guests use. You can purchase essentials for your holiday from the onsite mini market and the Diogenis Palace Hotel organises an occasional entertainment programme, mainly during the summer months (dependent on the weather and participation), with barbeques, karaoke and theme nights.
