Cruise Program

Two of Europe’s most popular cities combined with a wonderful three-night cruise on board Astoria, this is a city break with a difference! Amsterdam promises pretty tree-lined canals, graceful gabled houses and world-famous museums in this popular capital of the Netherlands. Then, spend a day in historic Antwerp with its eye-catching architecture, sculpted streets and picturesque galleries. Be sure to bring home some delicious Belgian chocolates!

After an evening of sumptuous dining and a glittering show on board Astoria you’ll awake in Amsterdam. Explore this fascinating city, bursting with character, where peaceful canals are criss-crossed by hundreds of bridges and world famous museums vie for your attention. Take a sightseeing canal trip, browse the flower market or be tempted by the many enticing shops. Alternatively, why not take an optional tour into the Dutch countryside to experience the land of windmills, clogs and cheese? In the elegant city of Antwerp, explore the Grote Markt with its 16th century guild houses and Flemish Renaissance town hall. Admire Antwerp’s towering Gothic cathedral, whose graceful spire dominates the skyline. You may prefer an optional tour to the medieval city of Bruges where you may choose to take a boat ride on the famous canals, or wander through the charming narrow alleyways and streets. A final night on board as you sail back to Tilbury, and all too quickly your weekend break is over.

Stops of your itinerary:

Amsterdam-Netherlands

With more bicycles than permanent residents, the Dutch capital is both charming and quirky. Aesthetically little has changed in the centre since its 17th century Golden Age. Beautiful gabled houses and merchants’ mansions line serene, tree-lined canals, which are laid out in five concentric circles and crossed by numerous bridges. The Royal Palace, originally built as a Town Hall in the 17th century, stands on a large square in the centre of the city. Considered one of Europe’s major art capitals, Amsterdam is home to a number of superb galleries and museums including the famous Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum.

Antwerp - Belgium

One of Europe’s largest ports, Antwerp is renowned throughout the world as the centre of the diamond trade. With its charming medieval streets and remarkable renaissance buildings, Belgium’s second largest city is a delight.

Historic guild houses and Antwerp’s imposing Town Hall with its rows of colourful European flags surround the cobbled stone main square of the old city called Grote Markt. The focal point of the city skyline is the towering Gothic spire of the Cathedral of Our Lady.

Our opinion:

Amsterdam and Antwerp Weekend - Cruise

Great 3 night break. Two city, 3 night cruise. Amsterdam by sea!
