Glasgow Airport carries around 7 million passengers every year, that’s around 20,000 people per day! It’s safe to say the good folks at Glasgow Airport do a great job 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, getting through 200 flights every day to 90 destinations.?

The first commercial flight to Glasgow landed in May 1966 and the airport has been getting bigger and better ever since. In its first year alone, 1.5 million passengers travelled through it. Today Glasgow is always moving forward with investments of ?200 million in the past ten years, and recently launched a Best of Scotland campaign with a dancing flashmob. That’s the kind of modernisation we love!

So, since we’re big fans of Glasgow, we’ve put together some of our favourite holidays from Glasgow; the top country they fly to is Spain and their most popular for long haul is Dubai.

Dubai

The ultimate in luxury, Dubai is a country where you can really recharge your batters in top class hotels, restaurants and surroundings. One of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai doesn’t do things by halves, offering the biggest, fastest, most impressive sights to really give you a spectacular holiday. The Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building, with a viewing deck at 425 metres. The Dubai Fountain is the world’s largest dancing water display, shooting jets of spray up to 150m! The malls have to be seen to be believed, boasting everything from indoor ski slopes, huge playgrounds and if you’re lucky, a couple of bargains thrown in. A trip to Dubai is a must this year.

Dalaman

Just a few hours from Glasgow and you can be indulging in the sun, sea and sand on offer in Dalaman. Just imagine endless, sandy beaches that are lapped by stunning blue waters. Marmaris in Dalaman is a perfect choice for families or couples who want to simply enjoy the beach every day or hit the famed water slide parks. For anyone looking for something with a bit more oomph, there are lots of clubbing and beach bars ideas, while a little local brew, Raki, will certainly get the party started.

Tenerife

An oldie but a goodie, Tenerife has long been a favourite both with us and with holidaymakers the world over. The largest of the Canaries and just a few hours from Glasgow, Tenerife has all the nightlife, beaches and sunshine you could want. The island itself is beautiful, with lush plant life, volcanoes, mountains, deserts and spectacular beaches. The El Teide national park will take your breath away, while the zoos and water parks are ideal for little ones. And of course there are more beaches than you can shake a stick at! Just a few reasons to think about heading for Tenerife today.
